Asked by kennethtullly May 31, 2013 at 05:49 PM about the 1956 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: General

I have just bought a 1956 type 1 bug imported from Germany and it does not have he "W" stamped into the tin of the rear deck cover and the front signal lights are mounted on top of the front fenders.
Is this factory correct? Also the "Volkswagen " emblem is on the drivers side front hood.
Can any one help me?

Find a vintage VW forum. Only other owners would know details about a 60 year old car.

No. Should have W decklid. Front blinkers should be about the middle of the headlight buckets on the front of the fenders. Go to www.the samba.com and look at all the pictures of other 56s. Best VW website there is.
