1988 was the first year for throttle body injection in dodge trucks so with yours being 1989, I would think the fuel pump will in the fuel tank

the fuel pump is located on the same side of the engine as the carb. to get to it, i found it easier to just remove the valve covor and try to wiggle it out of there. you may have to turn the motor over by hand to get the fuel pump to wiggle out. the air cleaner has to be removed to get to the fuel pump.

i replaced mine with an electric fuel pump before i discovered the old fuel pump tucked in behind the carburetor not that hard to get out once you find it.
