1986 dodge pick up 5.9 wont start i put new distributor set the timing, new coil, new resistor, new cap and rotor gaped pick up coils still no start.. only a loud back fire when i turn the key off from trying to start it.. who can help me.......?

sounds like it's not firing on #1 cylinder on the compression stroke. have to be off by at least 1 tooth on distributor. have you tried turning the distributor almost all the way to one side or the other to start it. even if it's off a tooth should start this way.

i did but still dosent start i replaced the ingnition control module no more back fire but when i try to start the carb spits out flames.... any suggestions...

Having same problem on 91 ram50. Stopped firing, just found out the main cause is a small black box mounted on side of distributor. Cost about $200, and and can be found in salvage yards.
