can slipping clutch be adjusted?

You'll need to replace it, a clutch kit isn't too expensive and it's only a couple of hours work anyways.

I had a 1979 D50, there was a cable adjustment by the firewall on the engine side, but Lars is probably right, its more than likely beyond adjustment.
