Repair

Asked by Oct 23, 2016 at 10:34 PM about the 1984 Dodge Ram 50 Pickup

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck will drive for about  two miles then
die. Was showing white smoked which
made us think water was in the fuel.
Removedo and emptied fuel tank. Replaced
fuel filter. Engine begin knocking. After a
while the white smoked stopped and
knocking will start and stop back from time
time. Went for a drive only made it about
two miles again till it died. Any ideas what
this  could be???

Sounds like a blown head gasket or intake manifold gasket. Check your oil. If there's white milky "goop" on the dipstick that's what it is. HTH. -Jim
