Cost of repairing a 1949 Coronet

Have a 1949 Dodge Coronet.  One family owner.  All original except tires and exhaust.  How can you find out if an estimate is an honest estimate, like getting the car running for instance?  How do you know you are being taken "for a ride?"

we have a 49 coronet we are working on also..just like auto insurance,when we need a mechanic, I get 3 or more estimates.luckily,we now have a great one,at 60 percent of the garage guys' prices! good luck! goldenone
