Should I get a 2007 ML350 (144K miles) and sell my 1999 ML 320 (178K miles)

Asked by Bryant Aug 14, 2022 at 07:41 PM about the 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Question type: General

I have a 1999 ML320 with 178K miles and can purchase a 2007 ML350 with
145K miles for around $4K. Should I get the new model? I’ve had great luck
with my 320, only one repair that cost over 1K. I got it in 2016 and it’s been
great and I’ve been told by mechanics that it’s one of the best years.

Those are good cars. This could be a good opportunity to upgrade..... Have the "07 checked out by a Mercedes mechanic. He'll tell you about any potential problems with it. And if his report shows any concerns, you ight be able to use them as bargaining chips..... That "99 is nearing its life expectancy for anyone who's not a Mercedes mechanic. And the "07 should provide a similar experience for the next five years or more.

The 1999 is actually a better built MB than the electronic nightmare the 2007 MB is. However the way vehicles are overpriced right now I would wait a while before diving in to an electronic nightmare.

Yes, I thought of this, but I thought that the "07 with 145,000 miles on it had given reliable service over its fifteen years. So any problems would likely have already been addressed.
