I wouldn't think it would hurt anything, but I would refer to the owner's manual to be sure. If you don't have a manual get one on E-bay or at the following...www.helminc.com

Yes it can, winter position starts you car out in second gear to help prevent tire slip in snowy and cold conditions, so it can raise fluid temps if used in everyday driving thus causing the fluid to loose its viscosity quicker and start band burning.
