Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have not driven my Mercedes since December of 2006 as I have been oversees. It has been in my garage. Today I put the key in to the ignition and nothing happens. No turnover, no sound -- just dead. I was told this is an electrical problem with keyless entry from a neighbor who has had a similar problem with his Mercedes (same model and year). I thouhg it might be the battery. What do you think? Is this a common problem?

Hello Gmmm695-- Even the best battery will fail to respond after sitting for five or six months. That would be the first thing I would check. Can you get a jump start from someone? Before you start listening to the neighbor's advice I would call AAA or some service like that and see if they can get you going. I will almost guarantee that this is your problem. Good luck from Bovan.

Gmmm695 , I would have to say your best and only bet is to take the car into a Mercedes -Benz dealership ..Here is what your dealing with : a buildup of condensation (water) in your gas tank and bad fuel..Sit down for this .( removal of gas tank and flushed out ) ( New Battery & possible Alternator ) ( Flush out Radiator and refill with Anti Freeze ) (Replace all Hoses & Belts ) ( Oil change & filter )( Check brake lines ) ..Last but not least a very good possibility of replacing all (4) tires because of dry rot )
