I press the black piece at the top of the key and I can't get the key lach to go back across

bring it to your mercedes dealership. show them your little puzzle. certainly this is the first I've heard of this unique problem....I can suggest don't try n' snap it in willy-nilly, but consider directionality by looking at whatever 'teeth' hold it together and approach it from the direction it came apart.
