Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Spent $700 on air condition and machanic couldn't fix it.  He offered our money back.  I'm now getting sick in summer when I forget and turn it on just for circulation.  It has a fungus odor so I'm not using it anymore.  What to do?

You have a mold problem in the Heater/AC core box, most likely is the drain has plugged up for the AC and started growing mold. There is a product that most parts stores have that you can spray in to air intake for the system to kill the mold or if you can stand the smell use an entire can of Lysol spray in the same way, just make sure the heater fan is running on medium to medium fast speed, this will pull the spray into the system, after the can is empty shut it down and let is set for at least 3 hours then open doors and run the fan to air out the system. That should take care of your bad smell, it will smell like the spray for a day or 2 but it will get better. Did you get your money back? 700 bucks would have replaced a lot of components.
