I have a 2001 VW Passat and recently experienced a problem with "check coolant" and my car would indicate me to stop. After my car overheating and needing to replace a hose I thought the problem was resolved. Now my engine has been running rough and started to flash the "stop, check coolant" again. Also on my way home last night the MIL came on. What could be wrong?

Did the coolant leak out again? Since the MIL is on, scan the car for codes.
