Re Water Pump & Timing Issues
So My husband took our beloved 2001 Beetle Turbo to a new mechanic,
they were recommended by a friend of mine who is also a mechanic. We
took it in for a smog check and $2100 later we are still having problems.
First work order they replaced Fuel Pump Relay & Fuses, changed the blown
Upper Radiator Hose Connector $699 they wanted us to change the oil for
Got the car back and still had problems so they replaced the Fuse Box
because the cooling fan was not operating then they replaced the Water
Pump and Radiator Hose Connector again and charged us again ( $107.70
for a total of $734 in labor -the grand total for this was $1537.45.
I got the car back and the turbo hose blew that day and the timing was off
not shifting from 3-4th gear and it lurches every time the car shifts gears. I
feel like I was robbed. They still need to replace the turbo hose- part was
back ordered-they let me know this 2 days after they had my car waiting for
the part to come in.
Sooo my question is- does the turbo hose and timing issue have to do with
the repair they made to the water pump? And did we pay twice for a service
that should have been done the first time? After all they charged us $270.50
for a diagnostics check the first time and again $135 the second visit.
