Malfunction Indicator light comes on  and does not go off after starting the engine

Please describe the indicator...it may just be a status light...you may have accidentally turned off stability control...or engaged the cruise...it could even be an outside temp warning. Some VWs have light bulb status warnings as well. So...gotta know what the picture is....then match it up with the graphic in the owner's manual.

if it is the check engine light you will need to read the codes with an suitable scanner.
