Primary fuel pump circut fault on 2002 Jetta
My sons '02 Jetta's check engine light is on. Pulled the codes and it says there is a primary fuel pump circut fault. Fuel pump is working fine. Car starts and run's fine. Looked through the manuals but can't seem to find anything related to this fault code. Can't pass the emissions test in Georgia with a check engine light on so this is starting to be a real issue. Check engine light was on when he bought the car. Any ideas? garageman, if you pick this up I would appreciate your input.
Thanks for he helpful web site Tom. I'm going down through the list of suggested fixes to see if I can figure it out. Forgot to add that the car also has a P0171 code (system to lean bank 1). Not sure if these two codes are tied together or not. Potential causes for each listed on the site you provided don't seem to link the two but I'm not ruling anything out. Thanks for the help
