my 2006 Outback wagon, 27,000 miles, has a steady check engine light and a blinking, flashing, cruise light on.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dealer says to use high test every third fill up or so. Says regular gums up cat con? Does not help. Cannot find a recall if there is one.

On certain situations Subaru's will disable the cruise control when there is a CEL on. I'm surprised your dealer couldn't pull the code and correct your situation. Maybe you want to find another garage in your area to help you. If you have a turbo on your outback, 91 Octane is recommended. So mixing 87 and 92/93octane is not a bad idea. But which octane you put in your gas tank isn't probably why the CEL is on.
