Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking to buy a 2005/2006
based on what I can afford. 16000-
20,000. I've seen  some for 16000
but with 98 thousand miles and then
some. How concern should I be
about the number of miles

Are you concerned with how good your heart and bones are at your age ? SAME THING, the engine is your heart and the transmission is the joints and bones in your body. Its a small price to pay in the "big" expensive picture, so have a PORSCHE "Certified" mechanic at a "Porsche dealership" look over the car before you buy. Just as a CYA (Cover Your A-s) make sure you get a warranty for more then 3000 miles. Once you see the dealership cost for the fist service over 100K you'll be glad you had the inspection done professionally. If the seller says no, walk away quickly !

A certified Porsche dealer, yes. If something happens in the warranty period the repair is on their dime. I would not buy a Porsche from anything but a Porsche dealer if I was spending that kind of money.

make sure your aware of the maintenance schedules timing belt water n oil pumps,, I was looking at a late 80s 911 and it turned me off when I found out they required a new timing belt every 40k miles (if I remember correctly) also make sure there are shops in your area that will even work on them unless your adept at working on cars

Sub33, take "Daniel" words with due diligence. I love the 911 and we almost bought "the perfect unit" until we thoroughly investigated the service schedule and then found the only "certified" dealer was 1 hour away, one way. As for your price mark up question, "Wouldn't you if you knew the buyer had the money". Dealerships don't stay in business without profits.

I don’t believe the Cayenne has a timing belt. My 2013 Deisel cayenne has a timing chain. Don’t need a Porsche dealer to do the work on it. Lots of shops specialize in this type of car.
