cayenne turbo oil consumption

Asked by Feb 08, 2010 at 10:52 AM about the 2006 Porsche Cayenne

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it normal for a 2006 cayenne turbo to consume 1 quart of synthetic oil (0/w40) every 2,500 miles. I find that every month or so I have to add a quart of oil to the car. My mechanic has inspected the car and there are no oil leaks. thanks.

Can't say specifically for your vehicle, but in general it's not unusual for any force induction engine to burn a noticeable amount of oil between changes. Although I believe Porsche states a quart every 800 miles as acceptable for any of their vehicles. If you take issue with it, you can switch to a heavier oil and that may lessen or alleviate your problems. Your owners manual should have a table of what weights are acceptable for various temperature ranges. I think Porsche only recommends 0w40,5w540,10w40, and 5w50 for vehicles after 1984, but like i said it should be in your manual somewhere.

Try adding Mobil 1 5W40 or (German)Castrol Syntec 0W30. The Cayenne Turbo has loose piston tolerances when cold.
