Engine Froze after repairs
Took 2006 Xterra to shop. They replaced catalytic converter, o2 sensor and
did an oil change. Two weeks later while driving the car the engine froze.
Checked and there was no oil. What would cause this?
Ok I have seen that several times. What happened most likely is that when they changed the oil for you, the employee who changed the oil filter did not remove the oil filter gasket that can get stuck to the engine block. When he installed the new oil filter, that old oil seal remained and the double seal caused the oil to leak over time and you were eventually driving without oil at all, and the engine just locked. You should go to the place you had the oil changed and tell them that you need to check that and if that is the case, then they are liable for replacing your engine.
Thank you for answering. This is a big help.
Shop forgot drain plug or never tightened drain plug ? @ causes engine would freeze up no oil or no water
