Catalytic converter

Asked by Aug 26, 2011 at 04:49 PM about the 2000 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 MX-5.
95K miles on it.
Four months ago, I had to replace the original catalytic converter. It was "done."
Had a brand new cad installed
Yesterday, "check engine" light goes on.
Mechanic hooked it up to the code reader -- "catalytic converter."
Today, that rattle -- of a toasted cad -- greeted me when I started the car.
Any ideas out there as to why my care is going through cad's?

cats fry because of too much fuel, especially aftermarket tiny ones,go back to the root problem, hell, look at the plugs, are they black carbon,or black wet, clean as a whistle? I would think not,a shorted o2 sensor, stuck injector/s,not likely, hook up volt d/c meter on o2,see how it switches on millivolt scale. thats a start.
