I would say you have a parasitic draw. you will need to do some testing with your multimeter to find which electrical circuit is the culprit. YouTube has some videos on how to perform the test.

Define "short. I get only two seeks hold on a 4lb Li-Ion but used to get many weeks from a standard heavy lead-acid.
