Truck slipping into neutral

Asked by Jun 12, 2017 at 09:58 AM about the 1992 Ford F-250

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had a problem with high rpms in my 1992 f-250. It has a 351 windsor, 5.8
efi with an automatic transmission. When I was sitting at stop signs the truck would
want to take off, basically had to sit there power braking. I changed out the brake
booster and now it purrs like a kitten at a stop and idle. However, now it shifts itself
into neutral while driving and I have to manually shift it into neutral and back into
drive to get it going again. I have replaced the idle air control sensor, tps, vacuum
lines, brake booster, coffee can, and also checked the egr valve. It's stumping every
mechanic in a 50 mile radius, any ideas? Thanks
