my 1993 ford e150 gearshift is only going in nuetral,drive but the transmission is shifting fine. how do i fix it?

the gear shift is loose and can only get it in nuetral and drive but the transmission is fine. how do i fix it?

Hi bigman, If this is a manual transmission you may only have linkage issues. If it's an automatic transmission then you could have much bigger problems. I would take it into a transmission specialist to have it checked out. Hope this helps!

i hate to say it but you may need a new colum. your shifter sounds wornout, but to be on the safe side check the linkage and the shifter for play.

Happen to me, easy fix, look up under the dash move the lever you'll see the 2 screws are loose if still there.... tighten your done....
