Is it difficult to replace ac/water pump ???
Thanks guys for your answers
yesterday . It turns out the ac/water
pump is seized . How difficult is it to
replace this part ????
The water pump or the a/c compressor?
What size engine do you have?
The belt route diagram just says AC , not compressor . Is that same thing ?? It's a 5.8 L engine . Thanks for the help .
Yes it is the a/c compressor. Does this have one belt?
Yes it is the one serpintine belt .
Then it makes it easier to change. I think there are four 10mm or 13mm bolts that hold it on. Take the belt off, unplug the a/c connector, remove the bolts but REMEMBER when you take the a/c line off you will lose all your Freon unless you know someone with a recovery unit. Just break the line loose and slowly turn the bolt until the Freon starts coming out. High pressure! Let the freo bleed out then remove the compressor. Make sure and replace the O-rings and coat them with PAG oil before installing. System will need recharged with Freon and oil again. You will also need to replace the orifice tube while apart.
How much oil and freeone do I need ?? Does the oil go right in the compressor ???Im also guessing the auto store will have the new orifice and o-rings ?? Sorry for all the q's this is my first time doing work on my vehicle myself . Thanks
4oz of oil and there should be a tag under the hood stating how many oz of Freon it holds.
Yes fill the compressor full of oil until it comes out. O rings should come with the compressor and they will have the orifice tube too.
Right on appreciate the guidance . Thanks
