Burning smell coming from front of car

Asked by Jan 31, 2016 at 01:50 PM about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport trac and started
noticing a burning smell coming from under the
hood. I have checked all the liquids and they are
fine. I have not used the heater.  What can it be?

Is it oil or coolant? Might have a bad gasket or hose and a fluid is leaking onto the exhaust. How is the serpentine belt?

I'm guessing it is oil. The belt looks good.
