Sounds like torque converter shutter, you can put in some shutter stop in the trans fluid and see if it stops, if it does then drive it for about 600 miles and then service the tranny. If it doesn't then your going to have to take it too a tranny shop, they can plug in and run solenoid and pressure checks to see if it is a solenoid or controller problem, or possibly a pump trouble.
What if it is the tranny pump or solenoid wht then?? And thanks so much we just had a baby boy today and trying to get it fixed
If it is a solenoid they can be replaced without tearing the tranny down, but if it is a pump then it will have to come out of the rig and be replaced.
It drives fine out of overdrive. Does tht rule out the pump? If not how much does tht cost? and when its in overdrive it want idle properly and would cut off until i set the idle screw all the way up.
Yep it does. Do you mean that it idles when the shift lever is in the full drive position and not when it is in 3 position? If so you may have other problems also. Is there a check engine light on?
sometimes the check engine light comes on and sometimes it doesnt. And it only skips and idles poorly when in overdrive when i press the overdrive button on the shifter to take it out of overdrive it runs and idles fine just a higher rpms.
