01 Ram radiator confusion

Asked by Ben Feb 22, 2022 at 10:20 PM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 01 ram 1500 with a 5.9 magnum. Need to replace the radiator.
Every
part I look up has oil or transmission lines running into the radiator as well as
coolant. The radiator currently on the truck only runs coolant and has a
separate cooler for the other fluids so I'm not sure what part I actually need. I
don't know if there has been previous customization or not but I know the
current radiator has a chrysler stamp and the date code on the side seems to
line up correctly to be a factory pert on the truck.

To get the exact same radiator you will need to order it from Chrysler if it is even available. All the aftermarket’s will be fitted for automatic transmission oil cooler, you just leave them blocked off if you have a cooler already. Just make sure you get the one designed for your truck and not a universal unit.

There are brass plugs that you can plug those tranny lines you're not using , I would think there would be .

There are no other fittings. Only upper and lower radiator hoses

Ram 1500 pickup, any OE brand radiator model number 2291 is the radiator specified for your vehicle. Ram 1500 Van, the model number is 1707. Maybe that is the confusion?
