Poor gas mileage 2004 Ram 1500
I am experiencing 7.7 mpg or less in the city, any ideas if this is normal or not and what
are the causes if its not normal.
i only drive in the city and for short trips.
To give you an intelligent answer we would need to know more about your rig ie, engine size, 4X4 , axle ratios, auto or standard, and any codes that may be listed in the ECM's memory will really help.
EPA ratings are 8 to 14 depending on equipment.
engine size 5.7 Hemi , 4X2 , automatic transmission axle ratios how do i know this? thank you for your response
The ratios will be on the little metal tab attached to the rear end bolts that hold the inspection cover. So 7.7 MPG with a Hemi is still right in the ball park with what the EPA shows. You might get some increase with a cold air kit and a nice cat back exhaust system or you could try a reprogram unit like Superchips or something similar. HTH
