Transmission

Asked by Jan 30, 2016 at 08:57 AM about the 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there any other sensor that will affect how the
trans shifts back down to low when truck stops
other than solenoid in transmission? Sometimes
truck will start out in a higher gear.

That sounds like a signal loss for the control unit, default is 3rd gear, get the codes pulled, most parts stores can do this and it's free, then repost them back here. You should also check the systems grounds, make sure they are clean and tight.

Po868 and Po483 . As long as I cut off power and restart it goes in low on take off. I had both governor solenoid and shift sensor replace with factory parts. The clutch fan has also been replaced. Checked all grounds even added one to frame from battery?

Trans code P0868 states that the trans fluid pressures are low, so possible transmission pump failure or plugged filters. The P0483 is fan control circuit but I don't believe that this is a viable code for your truck. Was the trans filter replaced when the solenoids were replaced? If so then the pressures will have to be checked at a tranny shop. HTH
