Automatic Locks not working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 chrysler town & country
mini van automatic locks don't
work. How do I make them work
again?

1 Answer

I figured it out. My automatic locks weren't working, on my 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Mini Van. I took the fuse out replaced it with a new one and it would work for a few days. I brought it in to the dealership, they said it would cost me $130 just to look at it, not to repair it. I didn't bring it back to them. After I read a few of the problems and answers here on CarGurus, I had my son help me try to figure out where the ground cables were, we could not find them. We did find the Van's User Manual and looked up under automatic locks. That is where I found that I was to.... 1). Close all the doors 2). Put the key in the ignition, turn it "as if" you are going to start the car, BUT DON'T START THE CAR. 3). Turn the key to the on position, then back to the off position.. 4). Do this four times. 5). Within 10 seconds of the final cycle of turning it on/off, ending in the off position press the interior lock to the LOCK position. A single chime will indicate that you have successfully completed the programming. Sofar it has worked for me and I have save $130+. I hope it helps you too. I thank my Lord Jesus Christ, my son and CAR Gurus for helping me figure this out.
