2001 La sabre shut off while driving.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My sister has owned this car about
almost 2 years. Last summer.it shut off
twice while driving. First time it started
right back up second time it took about
20 minutes. This had not happened
again until about a week ago when it
shut off while she was on the freeway
it took about 10 minutes before it would
start. We live in Arizona and since it
happened so far apart I am sure the
heat has something to do with it. I
think it might be the MAf but I don't
know what it looks like where it is or
how to clean it. Any opinions would be
appreciated.

Vapor Lock comes to mind. You live in a hot climate and if the fuel line isn't insulated from the heat of the engine it will boil and not pass on to the motor. That's probably not it but take a peek anyways.

You might want to check the plug connection on the firewall for the wiring harness. Had a Chrysler this happened to and the connection was loose.
