as car temp begins to rise, gears no longer catch

2001 buick century. when car is started, runs fine. as temp of car begins to rise at a
normal level and rate, the gears will no longer catch and car begins to stall and bog down
a bit

Sounds like transmission fluid and filter needs to be changed.
