Occasionally the traction notice lights up and makes a noise during either a turn on going up the driveway. This might happened every two or three weeks in the last several months. It goes off eventually and never is on when I have been just driving on a smooth road. What exacting does traction dpi?

It's probably a ABS speed sensor which is in the wheel bearing.
