I am haveing problems starting my truck. It will crank when you jump the solenoid but not with the s
selenoid is bad when u jump it on the out side u take it out of the equation
you can test the solenoid by using a test lead to trigger it. connect one end og the test lead to the small post on the solenoid and touch the othe end to the + battery terminal. If the starter turns then your problem lies between the ignition switch and the solenoid (probanly a safety switch). If the starter dosn't turn then the solenoid is bad. (the trigger wire has a small rubber boot on it, it should pull off easily, and remember to hook it back up when you are done) hope this helps
With mine the wire from the switch didn't have a good connection on the relay, I just crimped it a little with pliers to tighten up its grip on the terminal and had no more problems
ya i had that problem with the 302 i my boat a few years back, u need to replace the solenoid, it's the only way
