Just got a 92 Ford f150 four wheel drive with the inline six. Just rolled over 99k miles. I'm looking to fix it up , get more performance and go. Any suggestions?
There's not much you can do with a stock 300 in line 6 as they are a low RPM torque engine, you can put a 4 barrel carb and intake manifold, install headers, put in a fully adjustable certrificial advance distributor, but it will still be a low redline engine, it will just get there quicker, for more RPM's you are going to get into the expense of engine balancing. Or change it to a V8, less bottom end torque but much higher redline and more ponies at crusing speeds.
Ok, thanks. Was thinking if a performance chip, updated exhaust & headers, k&n intake , stuff like that. Not so ugh speed I want just more power out of the inline six. I love that motor. The truck was given to me, so I don't mind putting money into it.
Ok, if your are going to stick with the fuel injection, great, you can also get larger injectors along with a performance reprogrammer, that will boost the bottom end torque, headers and a cat back system will help, and the cold air pack. Looks like your headed in the right direction. Have fun with your project.
