what engine would replace 5.8 with no change to transmission
95 f-150 4 door with 5.8 engine water comeing from behind alt .but not water pump can not see exect locatin no water in oil .
Clean it up and pressurize the system. Timing cover? With all of the electronics, your best bet in replacing your engine is with the same engine (long block). Cheaper to fix the leak.
Had the same problem with a V6 4.0 engine. Could not find the leak for the life of me. Placed dye in the radiator then pressurized the system to about eigteen pounds and the leak was clearly visable. On mine it was the #$^ chit plastic thermostat housing on the top of the engine.
Intake gaskets can also be a problem on that engine, but to answer your question, a 302 or 5.0 litre engine will, but then you have to deal with changing computer, exhaust, accessory brackets, etc.
