97 Ford F150 manual transmission.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my manual transmission rebuilt 1.5 years ago at a  reputable shop. my slave
cylinder has began to leak. I asked to have my transmission rebuilt with a master
kit.is it sop to replace the slave cylinder since the shaft runs through it whenever
you rebuild the transmission.?

I personally would say yes I've rebuilt transmissions and I've removed and replaced transmissions and you always replace the clutch and the slave cylinder. That's just my way of thinking especially if you're paying $2,500

Every shop I know does this even if it looks good, I even did it in my shop. So if it's not SOP at that shop it should be.

But now your talking time, that was 1.5 years ago, the best warranty I can find on a slave cylinder is only 90 days, most are only 30 days, so even if they did replace it the warranty most likely has ran out. What kind of warranty did they give you on the rebuild?
