i was driving my 98 f150 at highway speed and accelerated to go up a small hill but nothing happened. Goosed it and could hear engine rev sounding terrible. Coasted to stop thinking tranny. Now the serpentine doesn't move if i try to start it. My buddy says timing chain but would that have caused the original problem?
It's very possible, check to see if the engine will turn by hand
Even it the engine turns by hand doesn't prove timing chain. Starter will turn engine over unless crank broke. Or, you can do a compression check to see if any are zero. (0 psi). an easier way would be to remove valve cover and as engine turns over, see if valves open and close. If not, it is the timing chain.
