removing caliper 05 f-150

Asked by Jun 12, 2010 at 10:41 PM about the 2005 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm a complete knucklehead when it comes to cars so this is probably a dumb question. but im changing the pads on my 05 and I cant get the caliper off, i've pulled out the two bolts and it wont slide off. It slides off a bit and rotates back and forth a little but I cant get it off. If anyone has some advice that would be awesome!

take a C-clamp put the flat end on back of calaper put other end on break pad and turn in until it stopes,it is pushing the piston back, remove calaper and pads replace pads bolt calaper back on do other side same way. IMPORTANT,pump up breaks before you drive it.pump up with break peddle.

check the brake fluid line. i have the same truck 05 f150. and that will hold the callaper on the rotor. i have not done brakes on mine yet. but that could be a possiable problem with yours.
