Do I get timing belt changed if I am getting water pump replaced?
Light on A/C was blinking, car temp gauge went to HOT and check engine light came
on, then temp gauge went down to cold. Car died on freeway. Car dealer says water
pump went out. Car was not leaking coolant prior. Occasional noise in morning but
couldn't figure out cause & it disappeared when car warmed up. One local dealer
charges $650, other dealer where my car is says cost is $799 for water pump work.
Should I also ask for timing belt replacement ?
Car: 2007 Camry, 6-cyl. 111K miles
Your car should have a timing chain not a belt. But if the spark plug were not changed yet I'd get those swapped out.
Thank you, Tom.
