BMW X5 3.0i .. when I come to a stop it starts shaking and knocking.. sometimes even cuts off.
I have changed the plugs and coils and replaced the fuel filter and it's still doing it.
Took it to advanced auto they said the detector said " cylinder misfire" ? If I disconnect the battery will it mess up the programming?
Check the spark plugs again. When you remove them look at the electrodes. Are they wet and smell like gasoline? Any black smoke coming out the tailpipe? If so, it's "dumping" fuel. I'd strongly recommend taking it to either your local BMW dealer or a shop that specializes in high end imports. Your local shop will NOT be able to fix it! My Nephew found that out the hard way with his '98 528i. HTH. -Jim
