Is it worth it to buy this car?

Asked by Mar 26, 2012 at 04:22 PM about the 1987 Honda Civic

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I know almost nothing about cars, but am researching and looking around to buy a car (I haven't owned one in 6 years) for under 3K, just something to get me around town. I've been looking exclusively at Hondas, mostly civics from the late 90's with around 100,000 miles. I cam across this posting, however, and am wondering if it would be a stupid to buy a car this old. I'm completely charmed by the looks of it, and considering it has only had one owner who kept it in good shape, and low miles for the year, would it be that ridiculous to buy it? What do you think? that is too high man id say like 800-900

Interesting. Thank you. Realistically, how many more years do you think a 25 year-old car has left in it?

there is no true definite answer aslong as it hasn't been been driven hard or has had regular upkeep done like oil changes in particular. the thing about those wagovans i hav ehad the same motor and it seems like once they get older they like to blow up head gaskets. which if you go to a shop it is considered a big job
