Does my 1989 Honda Accord have wheel bearing or hub assembly?

Asked by Apr 19, 2015 at 02:30 PM about the 1989 Honda Accord

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Technically, it has both. A hub assembly is simply the rotating wheel hub with studs for your wheels. It has a raceway and bearing inside it. On all older vehicles you could change just the bearings, or the bearings and raceways, but on most newer cars they have built them in such a way that it is close to/or impossible to change just those 1 or 2 parts, so they charge you more for the entire assembly in this "throw away" society, instead of just throwing away the 1 or 2 pieces that need to be replaced.
