!966 thunderbird power seat sticking
the power seat on the driver side is sticking it will go up and down but refuses to go
forward or backwards. is this normal? i'm a pretty tall guy and i need some space so any
help would be gladly appreciated. the motor works fine i can hear it working it just won't
go back or forwards could it be the brackets?
The seat tracks are cable driven so it is a good possibility that you could have a bad cable or stripped gear, but you will have to remove the seat to gain access to the track system.
i don't suppose you could instruct me on how to remove the seats or is it pretty self explanatory?
That old, it will be straight forward after you locate the hold down bolts for the seat rails, just be careful with the electrical connectors as they will be brittle and could just break apart, so check the wire color codes on what is where just in case.
I always take a lot of pictures on my digital camera before I dismantle anything anymore. My pictures are usually more detailed than a manual and if I don't have a manual, this guarantee I put everything back where it belonged. good luck.
