Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Fuel pressure should not drop when revving the engine up, fuel pressure should hold at normal pressure.

Have a 88 250 hd. I replaced my stock oil pressure gage with a true auto meter gage. I run 5 lbs at idle. 30 lbs at tearing it up. That's all you need. The higher the oil pressure takes away horse power. I agree with rowefast. Fuel system should maintain 15 lbs pressure always.
