Ford F-250 1977 won't start
I have a 1977 Ford F-250 with a 460 in it it cranks
but won't start it has spark and fuel getting to the
crab. Anyone could up!? Been stuck on this for
awhile now thanks, much appreciated!
If you have spark and fuel but it still won't run it's time to do a compression test. If all cylinders test low or zero, it's jumped timing. HTH. -Jim
Okay thanks. I will try that tomorrow i will let you know what happens
Update! Cylinders 1-4 had 60 psi and cylinders 5- 8 had 50 psi. I read online that it should be around 140-150 psi. What do you think I should do from here?
Timing chain has jumped. You'll have to replace the timing chain and sprockets. As part of the repair you'll have to reset the valve timing. The sprockets will only go on one way and have dimples on them to set the valve timing correctly. Make sure, by checking a repair manual that you have the sprockets set correctly. Some engines have the cam and crank dimples both at 12 o'clock while others have the cam dimple at 6 o'clock and the crank dimple at 12 o'clock. Good luck to you!! HTH. -Jim
Update. Just took off the timining cover and the Cain is really loose. I wil get the new Cain on Wednesday I will let you know how the reinstalling goes. Thanks much appreciated!
Sounds good! You're welcome. Glad to help. Yes, please keep us posted! You'll want to replace the sprockets as well. -Jim
