what engine and transmission came stock in a 1975 f250 2wd camper special?
Probably a 351 with a C6 trans or something similar. Problem is, there's no such thing as "stock" back then, as often vehicles could be ordered with any number of different engines, unlike today, where a Toyota Camry comes with a 2.2, no matter what trim level. Could be as high as a 460 or as low as a 302. Ford Blue valve covers won't tell the story.
could also be a 390 if your lucky
Most F-250 Camper Special came with a 390 or 460, all automatic transmissions are C6. You can verify by VIN if original. You can check on LMCtruck.com go to 1973-1979 catalog then to page 8 for VIN breakdown.
on a 75 250 camper special it came with a 400 with a c-4 tranny

no 1973 f100 thru f350 came from the factory with a 460. thats why they sell engine suports. 400 was as large as it got, but 2 wdrives got any combination even 240 sixes with a granny 4 speed. I know, I have 16 of them and build 2 a year! email@example.com

In 1975, one of the most popular engines in the Camper Specials, was the 360. But you could get the 300 I6, 302, 351 windsor, 351 Big Block, 400,And the 460.Camper Specials, 1n 1975, were like assholes, everyone had one. and they didn't ALL haul campers.
Troy,, Ford dropped the 240 I6 in 1972 for the 300 I6, right threw to 1996.
I have a '75 F-250, Super Cab, Camper Special, with a stock 360ci engine and a four speed manual trans. I'm trying to restore this truck, but I'm having trouble getting it to idle properly. I've had the engine completely rebuilt, but I don't know if the next step should be a carburetor, because I'm not certain of the emission and vacuum lines. Sorry for venting, on your post.
My 73 F250 has a 390 engine with 2 barrel carb C6 trans 3/4 ton full floating rear axle. 2 wheel drive and gets about 8-9 MPG.
i have a 1975 f-250 super cab short bed an is a 300 in line but wen i buy it the tranny was a AOD, that work terrible, shift gears at 1,000 RPM and i decide take out but i don know wath transmission is best for a in line engine betwin 4 stick shift or C6 automatic.
According to the VIN tag, my '75 Camper Special has a "numbers matching" 460 with a 600cfm 4bbl. Old Blue is in storage now, but in a couple years, I will be going to community college to study "Auto Body Technology and she is coming along, since we are supposed to provide our own project vehicles. Right now her passenger side has huge dents that look like she lost a fight with a corn harvester, and the cab is full of Idaho farm dust.
I have a 1973 F250 Ranger XLT Camper Special... 390 2bbl 4speed with working AC. I've fueled up both 20 gallon tanks and have driven from Illinois to Texas and back avg mpg was 11.25. I also have an after market cruise control added which may of helped with fuel mpg ( set to 65mph ). I'm also running on 35x12.5's BF Goodrich ATKO's
