390 3sp auto to a 460

I pulled a 390 out of my sons
69 ford camper special 250,
im dropping a 460 under the
hood,  the tranny from the
390 doesn't mount up , im
thinking a c6 ? Not to familiar
with fords but trying to get
something sick for his 16th
bday.any help would be
awsome.its a 3 speed auto
on the column,  i believe a c4
came out

Ford AOD 4 speed auto would be a nice upgrade. Are you sure you want to give your son a big block truck? The 390 is a FE engine but the 460 is a 385 series engine which is why the transmission does not match up.
