Fuel pump

I have a 1966 Ford 250. I’ve had it for a few
years and every 6 months it needs a new fuel
pump. I’m looking for the cause of that.
Seems to be way too frequent.

How are the pumps failing? (assuming you have a mechanical fuel pump and haven't made an electric fuel pump upgrade.) Sluggish, no power? Or are you getting a leak? Mechanically they are pretty simple, take one of your old ones apart and see what failed, most likely it's the diaphragm. Cheap fuel pumps mean cheap diaphragms and that's a common failure point with them. Also check your gas tank is venting properly so the fuel pump isn't forced to overcome the suction caused by displacing fuel.
