Battery Drain after Replacing Ground Cables

Asked by Apr 13, 2017 at 12:29 AM about the 1986 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last week my 1986 Ford F150 (300 inline 6) had an issue where the
solenoid was getting stuck and causing the starter not to shut off. I replaced
the starter and solenoid, but two days later it happened again. I checked the
negative ground cables coming off the battery and found that the cable was
badly corroded at the connection with the truck frame.

Since no-one manufactures the OE cable, I bought two new 4 G cables. The
first I ran to the starter block. The second I ran from the starter block (same
bolt) to the frame. The truck started up fine.

When I got home from work about 10 hours later I went to start the truck and
just got a click. Dead battery. Is it the cable configuration or am I missing
something else?

You have something else going on, ground is a ground. Probably need to check for a parasitic draw on the battery. Check this sight out... www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRso1A0VScw
